Daisy and Hannah at the aquarium

My cousin Rachel was in town, just for today, with her daughter Hannah--Daisy's second cousin. Yay! We went to the Cal Sciences museum and had lots of fun. I have decided that my daughter is the voiceover narrator of another child's life. She does participate, to some extent, but a lot of times it's like she's hanging back a little, observing, pointing at other kids and saying things like, "She's running in circles! She's laughing! What's she doing? She's crying! Now she's better. Everyone is happy!" Etc, etc, etc. She is the narrator of life.

Dancing around outside the museum

Albino alligator

Beautiful starfish

Huge tanks with coral and a million colorful fish

Having some lunch

Jumping on bugs

Climbing the treehouse in the play area

Snuggling in the boat bed

Steering the ship and examining a magnifying glass

Tired now (this was a no-nap day)

Enjoying the fountain outside (her foot looks like it's at a really weird angle, doesn't it?)

Hi Sari. I just viewed the pix of our girls and was enchanted, of course. I just ordered your Chanukah present and wish I could talk to you about it but I'll restrain myself till it arrives and I can send it off to you. It's a movie! What else? (Voh den? as my bubbe would say. Literally, What then? As in: You were expecting maybe a brisket?) I saw it for the first time a few days ago and was, as I very seldom am, awed by it. And it's French! You are such a great appreciator of and commenter on movies that I can't wait till you see it so we can discuss.
P.S. I'm so glad Hannie likes your dad!!

Sorry about that anonymous moniker. I pressed the wrong button, naturally not knowing which was the right one. And since it worked I have to use it again.

So happy about your man, our next prez. I cried buckets. The radiant adoring faces in Chicago showing such bliss watching and listening to him, the two beautiful daughters, Michelle! Only a stony heart wouldn't love it all. He reminds me of Cary Grant!

Baua!!! Is your computer fixed? Does this mean I can email you again at your email address? I am so glad you saw the pictures and only wish you could have been there, at the aquarium with us. I can't wait for my Chanukah present. I remember when you gave me the Joan of Arc movie--what a transformative experience!

Wasn't last night moving? It was impossible not to cry. Oh, I have to send you a picture that you will love, in fact. I will send it to your email address and hope it doesn't mess up your computer!
Love,
Sari

Alas, the wonderful photos did screw up this clinking clanking collection of colliginous (wha?)junk. I had to erase them. No, my e-mail problem persists. You can e-mail me but there's no vice versa. This is an odd place to communicate, don't you think? Do people ever conduct their correspondence exclusively through blogs?

Hannah looks like she's preening phonily in front of the camera in several photos. I don't like that a bit. It happens occasionally around here and I let her know her natural self is very taking, but not the Shirley Temple act.

Remember our agonies over a name for R's baby (Hail Adrien!)? Amy Poehler just had a boy and named him Archie! How could we have missed that one, right at the beginning of the alphabet? His last name I don't remember but it starts with A too, a bonus. Han likes to name things and has come up with some extraordinary names. My favorite is Glowa. Lovely. My next dog's name.

When I told Hannie I was going to vote, she assumed Obama would be there so she stuck a lot of stickers on a lot of pieces of paper for me to give to him. I returned with a note of gratitude from (Baua) Obama and she was quite blase about it -- naturally he was at the polling place in Fort Bragg and naturally he liked her present.

Oh no!!!! I am SO sorry about your computer, Baua. I should've known better. I was thinking about it last night, actually--how naive it probably was of me to think these photos would be okay. I was thinking maybe you had a new computer... ugh. Was your computer okay after you erased the email? Pleeease say yes. I will post the two pics on my blog.

I have lots more to say so I'll try calling again. I wanted to tell you how much I loved seeing Julia and her kids and how much DAISY loved them. She has not stopped talking about them (especially Claire, whom she said was a "good little girl"). She begged Claire not to leave and she never does that, never ever ever! She has also talked a lot about Bubby, Rachel, and Hannie. I will tell you more when we finally get to talk!

Love,
Sari
