More great pictures

These are from yesterday's trip to the Discovery Museum--thanks to Dena! The first shot below, the one Dena took of Daisy wearing the bumblee backpack (you can't see the bumblebee, but that's what it is) has got to be one of the best pictures of Daisy ever taken. I did a doubletake when I saw it--not only because it's such a lovely picture but also because it's the first picture of Daisy in which she looks more like a young lady than a baby, I think. My girl is growing up!

I love this picture of Henry and Daisy-- it really looks like they're kayaking, doesn't it?

Wow... that photo Dena took is as good as any professional photo I've seen. And Daisy looks so perfect I almost thought she was a doll, she's beautiful!

Thank you, Lisa! Yes-- I have to agree. It's got to be one of the best, or maybe just THE best, photo of Daisy I now have. Dena has a great eye. Maybe she should start charging for her work!

The first photo looks like a fashion shoot!

You know, the more kids I meet, the more Daisy's language skills stand out. Julia (remember her from the book club?) has an 18-month-old and he's not talking at all. Another coworker has a 2.5-year-old and the last time I saw him, his words were pretty rudimentary. Even if it's a boy-girl thing, it's very unique that Daisy's saying so much already.

Thank you, all! And thank you, Deb, for the kind words about Daisy's language skills. I think she is unique, too, but of course I have the mother's bias so it is always gratifying to hear from another! I know verbal skills are an area of strength for her, but I admit I was surprised when I realized she could recite that whole Tiny Tim rhyme. What I haven't captured on video is how she improvises amazing sentences, too-- not just mimicking ones that others have said. She puts things together in the goofiest ways: her own experiences, parts of different texts she's read, and just her own imaginings. So she'll say things like, "Dada was playing the bugle with Madlenka on the Golden Gate Bridge!"
I am sure, though, that the other kids will catch up and just are on their own timetable. One friend told me that by the time they're three, the language differences seem to even out more or less. I'll bet those kiddies are headed for a big language explosion one of these days. I am hoping the same applies to physical coordination and motor skills, because that's where Daisy is somewhat behind... other kids her age are going up and down stairs now, for example, and she's still struggling there. But I love her the way she is!

Thank you, Adrienne! We should find a time to get together-- I would love to meet your girl (and I don't think you and Daisy have met in person yet, have you?).
