Weird
I realize that this will offend some people, perhaps deeply, but I have to say it anyway: for some reason, Kate Winslet and Gwen Stefani have morphed into one person in my brain. They are one.

and what caused this strange mutation??? I can't see the similarities between the two, other than they are both female, blondes, and have lush lips...
i do know from the celebrity mags that one likes to dress herself (and her kidlet) in black and white stripes... so that's perhaps how I distinguish them...
I don't know! It is odd, but my brain sometimes blends people together, especially as I get older and fuzzier in the brain. Sometimes it's because something about them looks similar, and other times, if I don't know what they look, like, I can get names confused...for some reason, Jack Benny and Milton Berle are together in my brain, too, because of their names. And so are Milton Berle and Burl Ives. Milton Berle, Burl Ives, and Jack Benny are one person in my brain.
I know exactly what you mean. For the longest time, I couldn't tell Mary Stuart Masterson, Mary Louise Parker, and Mary Elizabeth Mastrontonio (sp?) apart.
Since Angels in America, I have an easier time distinguishing Mary Louise Parker ... but it would be pretty much a guessing game for me with the other two!!

oh definitely! Although the last one looks more Italian, but I couldn't give you her name on cue... more recently I have had issues with Laura Linney and Hope Davis (since they often play similar roles in independent films)... however I think I can distinguish them now!
there are lots of English actors that blur together in my mind as well--probably because they are not CELEBRITIES in the American sense. So there is less name recognition?
Kate Winslet and Gwen Stefani, separately or together, are a welcome addition to my brain any day.
