I am sick

Yes, I am. I feel pretty terrible. It's just a cold, I think, but the pregnancy books and advice nurse people say I can't use too many heavy-duty drugs, which means I've been having a hard time sleeping, I am so congested. I have taken a few Sudafed at night (books say it's okay) and I have some sugar-free throat lozenges. If any of the formerly or currently pregnant have any ideas, though, I would welcome them!

I'm so sorry you are sick. I don't remember ever getting the flu or a cold, luckily, when I was pregnant, although I knew about the advise not to take too much medicine. If you get sick enough, I wonder if they can give you anti-viral or antibiotic medicine? I relate to you even in my non pregnant state because I was so sick last month, and medicine seemed to do nothing for me. :-( Get well!! Did you ever check out the fart links from my blog? Maybe they might pep you up a bit!

Oh, I loved the fart links on your blog! Are you kidding? What's not to love about something called, "Oops, I Farted Again," by the illustrious Britney Spears? (Though I tried to access the site again today and the web wouldn't let me go there. I wonder if it's been taken down!) This is the second cold I've had since being pregnant; one of my books says that pregnant women are particularly susceptible to nasal congestion and bleeding (which I've also had). If I get desperate I'll go to Kaiser. Right now I'm trying to get by on hot tea and two Sudafed before bed. And my head on a huge stack of pillows.

Hang in there, kiddo. If you weren't pregnant, I'd recommend the patented Hamilton family hot toddy recipe (which has enough booze to stun a horse), but then if you weren't you could be doping yourself to the gills, obviously. Have you tried a steam treatment for the congestion? Get yourself some boiling water and a towel to cover your head and try breathing in the vapor. Hope you feel better soon!

I wish I could try the hot toddy! Alas. But I like the idea of the hot vapors, Bill... I'll try it.
