Destroyer pics...

...from the Time Out in Concord, from this Saturday, March 25. (I think they spell their name "Desstroyer," so that the first four letters resemble "KISS," but I just can't bring myself to do it). Here are a few and I am going to post some pictures of Wildside in another post. About these pics: Mark is Ace, the guitarist. One of the pics shows him with his trademark smoking guitar (sorry, I can't give away the secret of its supernatural powers).

Mark as Ace (he looks so blase for a rock star!)

I do look blase! I guess I was tired -- or saving up energy for Wildside.

Gotta practice walking in those boots!

Destroyer has lost the second "s" officially -- Sarah, I know you'll be pleased, as am I.

I am not sorry to see the second "s" in Desstroyer go, though I do understand why they had it in there. And as for looking blase-- another, less pejorative, phrase could be calm, cool, and collected. (Well, till you tripped, I guess! Hee hee.)

Mm ... though you might want to reconsider the second "s" as there's an indie band out there called Destroyer (who sounds NOTHING like KISS, rest assured) ...

Am I a parade rainer? I think I'm a parade rainer. :-(

It figures that a name like "Destroyer" would be taken by another band--it's a good rock band name, isn't it? Sometimes, in my writing, I try to think up funny band names for fictional bands, and EVERY single time, when I google the name, it's taken. What can be done?? (Hmm, I just thought of one.. the Bleeding Eardrums. I'm going to google it. How much do you want to bet it's taken?)

Mita,

No, you're no parade rainer. For one thing, Destroyer the Kiss tribute has existed since 95 (I'm only in a recent incarnation), which may be older than the indie band.

Second, any band named Destroyer must BY DEFINITION be a Kiss tribute band. Therefore, indie Destroyer needs either to begin playing Kiss covers exclusively or to give up the name post haste. I'm sure Gene Simmons and high ranking officers in the Kiss Army will be contacting them shortly...:-)

Sarah,

I always thought Leatherface would be a great band name (from Texas Chainsaw Massacre); bet it's been taken

Oh that's funny. I went to the Merge website and learned that indie Destroyer has been Destroyer since the early 90s. I think what that means is that any KISS tribute band is actually, BY DEFINITION, an indie rock band. No?

And hee hee. I like Mark's avatar.

Oh and heads up ... indie Destroyer will be playing at Cafe du Nord on May 8th in case you want to round up a posse and run him/them out of town ...

The bastards! Well, I can relent a bit -- they need to play at least one Kiss cover at that show to be worthy of the name Destroyer -- preferably one of the Destroyer album (1976). Let's hear 'em do "God of Thunder"!

We should go see this rival Destroyer, Mark! And so should the other guys from YOUR Destroyer, in full makeup, wearing your platform shoes... maybe you could thuggishly intimidate them or something.

Mark figured out how to have an avatar! Now why can't *I* figure that out? Not that I have one, anyway... someone needs to take a digital photo of me. I don't have any. But maybe wait till I am less... large.

Okay, there IS a band called Leatherface: a British punk band that "has been described as a cross between Husker Du and Motorhead." Sounds right up your alley, honey! However, I could find no band called the Bleeding Eardrums, which means I may be in luck. There is, however, an alt country band called Rodeo Kill (clever clever) out of Olympia, Washington, who sing all about life in the Pacific Northwest (how's that, Mita?), and they have a song called "Breaking Heart and Bleeding Eardrums." Personally, I think it should be, "Bleeding Hearts and Eardrums."

You can go to avatars.yahoo.com and create your own one!

You know, I did that, and now I have one that *I* see when I log on to my email, but not that appears next to my name when I post on my blog. I haven't figured that part out, or how to post an actual pic as my avatar. (What frustrated me about my Yahoo avatar were the limitations on what she could do--it was like, if she wore one hat, she had to have curly hair, and if she wore another hat, she had to have straight hair.)

Have you asked Mark how he got the pic on the blog? I am curious to see your avatar!

I'll ask him. But I have to say, my avatar isn't all that exciting. I couldn't get it to stop having curly hair, while also wearing the cute hat I wanted it to wear-- so it doesn't look like me very much.

Oh, I like it, Dad! That's a much better misspelling than "Desstroyer."
